Two southeast Nebraska farmers will testify before the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee this week.
The hearing, scheduled for Thursday, will focus on how to best address commodity and risk management programs in the upcoming farm bill.
According to Sen. Mike Johanns, the hearing will include testimony from Steve Wellman of Syracuse and Ruth Gerdes of Auburn.
Wellman raises soybeans, corn, wheat, and alfalfa, and manages a cow-calf herd, and serves as president of the American Soybean Association.
Gerdes grows corn and soybeans and raises Angus cattle along with her husband. She is currently a member of the Crop Insurance Professionals Association, the American Association of Crop Insurers, and the American Farm Bureau Federation.
The hearing had originally been scheduled for Wednesday, but was postponed until Thursday. It is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. central time.
