Nemaha County Solid Waste Director Doug Jeanneret has resigned.
Jeanneret submitted a letter to county commissioners Monday giving his two weeks notice.
In the letter, he said he was resigning because the job he was hired to do, to bring the construction and demolition pit into compliance with state regulations, was completed on March 7th.
In addition, Jeanneret said he had received no cooperation from the commission in attempting to require farmers in the county to move their farm plastics into the recycling stream as required by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
During a special meeting today ( Tuesday), commissioners told Jeanneret they appreciated the work he had done for the county. they informed him he would be paid through March 23rd, but asked that he leave at this time instead of working through the 23rd.
Jeanneret was hired as solid waste director on June 1st of last year.
