Centralia Panthers girl's squad made the state tournament for the second straight year, looking to continue their successful season. After getting behind early, only able to score seven first half points, as the Waverly Bulldogs lead it 19-7 at the half. The second half continued with the Bulldogs outscoring the Panthers, by eights in the third quarter. Centralia would muster a 19-9 fourth quarter in their favor, but it was to little to late for the Panthers to mount a comeback.
Waverly would see balanced scoring with nine different players finishing with two or more points in the game. Ashley Romig, lead the way for the Bulldogs with 16 points and nine rebounds, as she was the only player for her squad to scored double figures in the game. For the Panthers of Centralia they only saw five players tally points in the contest, with two of those players scoring double digits in the game. Seniors, Vanessa Burdiek and Michelle Huag finished with 10 and 13 points, respectively. But overall as a team Centralia struggled shooting 29% from floor and going 1-11 from three-point land, which would doom the Panthers in the game.
Waverly with the win would advance to the state tourney semifinals. Centralia finishes their season 15-10 with multiple things to look back on on their successful season. First winning their sub-state, 68-59 over Hanover to advance to the state tourney for the second straight year. The Panthers finished third in the Twin Valley League and took home fourth in the Twin Valley League tournament this season, as well. Congratulations to Centralia on a successful season, making the state tourney and finishing 15-10 on the year.
