Falls City Sacred Heart defeated Sterling 58-44 Thursday night to advance to the Class D2 District final against the Hampton Hawks.
The Irish knocked down 25 of 31 free throw attempts in the game including 18 of 21 in the 4th quarter. Sophomore Chaz Dunn scored 9 of his game high 16 points in the fourth quarter including 7 of 8 free throw attempts. Junior guard Clay Finck scored 9 of his 15 points in the fourth period on 9 of 10 at the line to help seal the victor. Matt Goltz was also in double figures with 10 points.
Sterling is not 18-7 on the season. The Jets were led by Cody Benson with 9 points in the game. All scored in the first half. Collin VanGroningen and Ryan Zuhlke scored 7 each.
