Trevor Holthaus is the 2017 recipient of the Harry C.M. Burger Nemaha Central Scholarship awarded through the STEP Foundation. This endowed scholarship was established by the late Harry Burger to encourage youth to further their education. The scholarship is renewable for four years throughout the student’s career at Kansas State.
Trevor is the son of Kevin and Karen Holthaus of Seneca, Kansas. He plans to attend Kansas State University to major in Computer Science and Business. Trevor expressed in his application that after he completes his studies, he would like “to gain employment with a company that maintains positive atmosphere where I can continue to learn and master new technologies and implement them to benefit the company and society.” While attending Nemaha Central High School, he maintained a 4.00 GPA and ranked first in his class. He has also been active in both academic and athletic activities, which included FBLA, National Honor Society, baseball, golf, baseball, scholar’s bowl and band. Trevor has been a member of the Achiever’s 4-H Club for thirteen years. In a letter of recommendation, a teacher described him as “a well-rounded citizen, actively involving himself with leadership positions within his school and immersing himself with volunteer work within his church and community.”
