The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), will hold a Local Working Group (LWG) meeting on Thursday, February 16th, 8:30 a.m., at the USDA Service Center in Seneca, Kansas. The purpose of this meeting is to review current Natural Resources Conservation Service Financial Assistance Programs (payment rates, eligible practices and resource concerns), and to make recommendations to NRCS regarding changes/improvements to existing programs. LWGs are important, because they provide recommendations on local and state natural resource priorities and criteria for U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) conservation activities and programs. Another important function of the LWG is to assist with public outreach and information efforts, taking into account concerns of particular historically underserved groups and individuals including but not limited to women, persons with disabilities, socially disadvantaged, and limited resource groups. Persons interested in obtaining more information about the LWG meeting should contract Lee Copeland, District Conservationist, NRCS, at 785-336-2186.
