(KAIR)--This Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 7 p.m. at the Veterans' Memorial Plaza on the Riverfront in Atchison, KS a memorial service will be held to mark the fifth anniversary of the grain elevator explosion that occurred a half-mile south of the plaza along the river on the same date in 2011. The service will honor and remember the six men who died in the explosion.
Gary and Ramona Kiel of Salina, Kansas, parents of Travis Kiel who was among those killed, with the support of the city of Atchison, invite family members, friends, and community members to attend and participate in the service which will include remembrances and prayers as well as expressions of gratitude to first responders who served so courageously during this incident. Light refreshments will be served following the service. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held at the Riverbend Bible Church building, 1145 Commercial St. in Atchison (across 12th Street from the Lions Pool).
Pastor Bob Flack of Riverbend Bible Church will officiate at the service. Those interested in participating or seeking more information about the service should call him at 785-313-1390.
