(KAIR)--Called to duty in the Persian Gulf and Levant regions.
Those are the orders given to the Leavenworth-based 35th Infantry Division Headquarters, involving around 500 soldiers from both the Kansas and Missouri National Guard.
According to a news release issued by the Kansas Adjutant General's Office, they will be activated in support of Operation Spartan Shield beginning in mid-2017 to enhance ongoing theater security operations.
Elements of the 35th Infantry Division deployed in 2003, 2007, 2013 and 2014 to support higher commands in peacekeeping operations in Bosnia and Kosovo.
It is one of 18 divisions in the Army and one of eight divisions in the Army National Guard.
Major General Victor J. Braden, Commander of the 35th Infantry Division, posted a video message on YouTube, outlining the deployment plan.
