10/10/2016

(KNZA)--A Mayetta altercation sends two women to jail.

Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says it happened Friday night at 306 James Street.

He says his office was called to that location; and, following their response, an application for a search warrant was approved, and then executed.

Arrested at the scene was 24-year-old Paige Smith-Novak, of Mayetta. She was taken into custody on charges including distribution and possession of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and aggravated endangerment of a child.

Also arrested was 29-year-old Topeka resident Megan Pangle. She is accused of having been involved in the altercation with Smith-Novak, and was taken into custody on charges of criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and battery.

Smith-Novak remains in the Jackson County Jail where she's held on a $10,000 bond.

Pangle was also booked into the jail, but was released early Saturday morning after posting a bond of $2,000.

The Hoyt Police Department and Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Tribal Police assisted with the investigation.
