(KAIR)--Alcohol is the alleged cause of an early morning vehicle crash over the weekend.

According to a report from Atchison County Sheriff Jack Laurie, 15-year-old Austin Coder, of Atchison, was traveling west on 286th Road Sunday morning at approximately 1:45 when his vehicle drifted left of center and drove off the left side of the roadway. He hit a ditch and rolled the vehicle several times.

Laurie said Coder would go on to leave the vehicle and enter a nearby residence—uninvited.

Residents of the home found him asleep on their couch with facial injuries. Laurie said it was determined—after communicating with him and discovering open containers of alcohol—he was under the influence at the time of the wreck.

He was issued a notice to appear in Atchison County District Court following his arrest on charges of driving under the influence and driving while restricted.
