(KNZA)--A two-vehicle wreck about five miles south of Holton Thursday morning sent one person to the hospital.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened around 6:45 at the intersection of U.S. 75 Highway and 190th Road.
The Patrol says a sport-utility vehicle driven by 21-year-old Mayetta resident Chaz Shopteese was westbound crossing Highway 75 when his vehicle was struck by a southbound semi.
Shopteese was transported to Topeka’s Stormont-Vail hospital for the treatment of what Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse described as disabling injuries.
The semi driver from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was not hurt.
The Patrol says both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
Assisting at the scene were the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Potawatomi Tribal Police, Jackson County EMS, Potawatomi Tribal Fire and EMS, and Hoyt and Mayetta Fire Departments.
