It makes sense for businesses to promote employees as their skills and work habits are known. However, technical skills that make employees great on the frontline are not the same skills needed to be a good supervisor. Looking to help employees promote or become better supervisors? Want to improve your own leadership skills and improve your career opportunities? The University of Missouri Extension in the Northwest Region has an opportunity to help businesses and employees enhance the supervisory and leadership skills within their organizations.
Beginning in October, a Supervisory Certificate Series will be conducted in the northwest region. A series of six sessions will be offered on Wednesdays in both Maryville and Chillicothe, beginning on October 5, 2016. All sessions will be offered in Maryville, at the Northwest Technical School, on October 5, 19, November 9 and 30. Sessions in Chillicothe, at the BTC Bank will be offered October 12, November 2, 16 and December 7. Session titles include Building Effective Relationships, Your Legal Responsibilities, Communicating Successfully, Leading High Performance Teams, Guiding Conflict Resolution, and Coaching Employees. Sessions may be completed individually or participants may register for the entire series.
This series, designed by MU Extension’s Missouri Training Institute gives supervisors the skills needed to effectively lead others and enhance existing supervisory skills. Careful consideration has been given to the design of this series to ensure participants will be engaged in their learning and fully participate through skills practice, mini-assignments, and interactive group exercises. Once all six sessions of the series are completed, at any location, participants will be awarded a supervisory certificate through the Missouri Training Institute.
