Hearing Continued; Restraining Order Remains In Place
08/30/2016

(KNZA)--A restraining order remains in place temporarily, maintaining tribal roles of leadership, as the hearing regarding that matter is continued.

That decision was reached Monday in the Sac and Fox Tribal Court, with the judge rescheduling the hearing to allow more time for legal counsel to prepare for proceedings.

The hearing followed the filing of the restraining order on August 13th by Tribal Council Chairman Edmore Green. It was filed the same day as the tribe's annual General Council Meeting in the Brown County community of Reserve.

It was there that three Council members facing a recall petition, including Green, were removed from their roles of leadership and replaced, leading to the filing of the temporary restraining order.

Green, Vice-Chair James Jensen, and Treasurer Nancy Keller, retain their roles of leadership pending a future decision of the court.

That's now set to happen on the afternoon of Thursday, September 8th, in the Tribal Court.
