(KLZA)-- One person died and two others were injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle wreck on Highway 75 north of Auburn.
The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office report says 72-year-old Lester Meciej of Round Rock, Texas was southbound on Highway 75 in a sport utility vehicle when he crossed the centerline colliding with a northbound semi tractor-trailer driven by 52-year-old Bryan Olson of Springfield, Missouri around 2:30.
Meciej was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck about 5 1/2 miles north of Auburn. A passenger in the SUV, 70-year old Jeanne Meciej, and the semi driver were transported to the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn with non-life threatening injuries. All three were wearing seat belts.
Auburn Fire and Rescue, Peru Fire and Rescue, Midwest Medical and the Nebraska Department of Roads responded to the scene.
The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash with the assistance of the Nebraska State Patrol.
