(KMZA)---A Fort Riley soldier convicted on charges in connection with a drunk driving two-vehicle collision last August in Nemaha County that injured three Seneca residents has learned his fate.
Justin Gerdes was recently sentenced in Nemaha County District Court on two counts of aggravated battery and a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol in the case.
Gerdes was given a suspended prison sentence and placed on 18-months supervised probation. In addition, he was ordered to pay more than $15,000 restitution to the three victims—Kelsey Bradley, Bryce Bradley and Dana Bradley.
Gerdes pleaded “ no contest” to the charges in June. In exchange for the plea, three additional counts were dismissed.
He was charged in connection with a two-vehicle wreck on August 22, 2015 on U.S. 63 Highway north of Seneca that was investigated by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The Patrol says Gerdes was northbound when he attempted to pass another vehicle and collided head-on with a southbound vehicle driven by Kelsey Bradley.
Bradley, two passengers in her vehicle and Gerdes were transported to the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca for the treatment of injuries following the wreck.
