(KNZA)--A Jackson County man convicted of sex crimes involving a six-year-old child will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller says 50-year-old Anthony Bowers, of Soldier, was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without the possiblity of parole for 25 years on each of three counts he was convicted on. The judge then ordered the sentences to be served consecutively, meaning he will not be eligible for parole for 75 years.
A jury in March found Bowers guilty of rape, aggravated indecent liberties with a child and aggravated criminal sodomy.
Authorities say the crimes occurred between October and December 2012.
His first trial in 2014 ended with a hung jury.
