(KAIR)--A public health warning for a local lake remains in place due to high levels of toxic blue-green algae.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment continues to list the Atchison County Lake as one of three lakes in the state named to warning status.
The KDHE said the local lake is among two others that continue to be affected by the algae.
State health officials say direct contact with the water is strongly discouraged for people, pets and livestock
Fish can be eaten as long as they are rinsed with clean water. Only the fillet portion should be consumed and all other parts discarded.
