Issues Still Unresolved at New Nemaha Co Jail
07/13/2016

(KMZA)--  Issues with the control system in the new Nemaha County Jail have delayed the housing of inmates in the facility.

Sheriff Rich Vernon told County Commissioners this week that Sierra Detention still hasn’t resolved the issues.  Vernon says he’s hoping the issues will be addressed this week.

The new 36-bed jail was completed in May.  The public had a chance to view the facility during an open house that was held in late May.

Groundbreaking for the new 15,000-square-foot jail addition was held in November 2014.

The county financed the nearly $4.6 million project through existing capital outlay funds.
