Atchison Carjacking Leads To Arrests
07/12/2016

(KAIR)--Three Atchison teens are in custody.

That follows an investigation launched by Atchison Police after a reported car jacking early Saturday morning.

Police Chief Mike Wilson tells MSC News the three young teens have been located, and face charges in connection with the crime. “This victim was approached in the area of 4th and Main by three subjects who wanted to use her phone. They subsequently asked for a ride, they were given a ride to the western part of the city, and then requested to go back to the downtown area where they displayed a stun gun in the vehicle. At that point, the victim was forced out of the car when the three subjects left in that vehicle.”

The suspects, aged 14, 15, and 16, were all arrested in Atchison on Monday.
Wilson says the car has also been located. “We did recover the vehicle in Kansas City, Missouri. As part of this investigation concluding on Monday night, we requested Kansas City, Missouri Police to locate and recover the vehicle. It's our belief that the vehicle is in similar condition as when it was taken. It was parked in a residential [Kansas City] neighborhood.”
According to Wilson, the weapon displayed, but not used during the incident, had previously been stolen. “They also now know that the stun gun that was used was taken earlier that evening in a vehicle burglary, so that is another investigation that is underway, and is associated with these three suspects.”

All three teens are facing charges of aggravated robbery and theft.
Following their arrests, they were transported to a juvenile detention facility.
