(KAIR)--A reported Atchison carjacking is under investigation, with the victim telling police it happened when she offered assistance to a group of what she describes as teenagers.
Police Chief Mike Wilson says the crime unfolded around 2:30 Saturday morning. “A 21-year-old female was in the area of 4th and Main when she was approached by three suspects who wanted to use her phone,” Wilson tells MSC News. “There was a conversation that followed, and eventually they actually got in the vehicle with her. She and the three suspects then drove to the western part of the city, then back downtown, where it was around 8th and Main when they forced her out of her car and then they drove off in that car.”
Wilson describes the vehicle as a red 2013 Chevy Cruze passenger car. “We put an alert out for that vehicle, and we've been following down leads.”
According to a social media post made by the victim, the suspects threatened her with a taser prior to stealing the car, but she did not suffer any physical injuries.
Anyone with information about the crime is urged to call Atchison Police.
