Humboldt Council Action Clears Way for County Fair
07/07/2016

(KLZA)-- The Humboldt City Council approved several agenda items related to the Richardson County Fair and Humboldt Fall Festival events happening in September when they met Tuesday.

The Council approved use of  City Streets and permission for a street dance and beer garden on the Friday night of the Fair sponsored by Lucky’s from Lincoln. The beer garden will be on the northwest corner of the City Square. DuBois resident Jeremy Marteney is a member of the ownership group of Lucky’s.

In addition, the Council accepted responsibility under state statute for closing down Highway 4 in Humboldt during the three parades that are part of the Fair.

Kathy Leneki met with the Council to discuss starting a recycling program in the community. No action was taken.

A one day liquor license for Centerfield Bar was also given favorable comment. While the final date has not been selected, plans are being made for a fund-raising event to benefit Lynn Whitten who was injured earlier this summer.
