“While the department cannot repair the damage wrought by recent tornadoes we can help make parts of the rebuilding easier,” said Kansas Revenue Secretary Nick Jordan.
The department will be waiving fees for those who need to replace identification and documents lost in the storms in Ford, Hodgeman, Dickenson, Potts and Geary counties.
“A new driver’s license or vehicle title is one step on the path to rebuilding lives,” said Kansas Director of Vehicles Lisa Kaspar. “We’re happy to help our fellow citizens get back on their feet.”
Those who lost their driver’s license in the storms can go to a full service driver licensing office, show a document, such as a utility bill, school document or other mail that lists their address, proving they lived in one of the storm-affected areas, and Kansas will replace the license or identification card free of charge.
Those who need to replace vehicle titles lost in the storms can get a free replacement by visiting their local county treasurer’s office.
Those who lost vehicles in the storms can bring in insurance claims to their local county treasurer’s office and apply for a refund for the vehicle’s tags.
