Nemaha Co Conservation District Holds 69th Annual Meeting

The Nemaha County Conservation District’s Annual Meeting was held Thursday, February 18, 2016. This year the Conservation District’s 69th Annual Meeting was held at the Nemaha County Community Building in Seneca. A large crowd attended the meeting, and enjoyed a delicious meal, furnished by the Nemaha County Bankers Association, and prepared by the Corn Crib Restaurant.

A short business meeting was held. During the business meeting, an election of one supervisor to the Nemaha County Conservation District Board was held. Aaron Georg was elected to serve a 3-year term to the Conservation District Board of Supervisors.

T-shirts were presented to Forty-One students who were winners in the conservation district's poster and limerick contests. Two students were presented state awards for their winning posters in the state competition.

Anna Baker, Soil Conservationist, gave a Power Point presentation on the conservation accomplishments of this year’s winners. Kyle Allen, Nemaha County Key Banker, presented the Kansas Bankers Association Soil Conservation Awards to LeRoy & Gladys Deters & Paul and Lydia Steinlage. The Windbreak Award winners were Phil & Alice McClain, and the Grassland Award winners were Ryan & Brandy Edelman.

Lee Copeland, District Conservationist, presented the Water Quality Award to Buessing Holsteins.

Door prizes were donated by the Nemaha County Conservation District, The Top Shop, and Feyh Farms Seed Co. Following the meeting, all children were given a certificate for a free Thunder Ice Cream Dessert. These certificates were compliments of Home Plate and the Nemaha County Conservation District.
