Presents Stolen In Wamego Burglaries
12/22/2015

(KMZA)--Two closely occurring rural Wamego burglaries have the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office searching for suspects while asking the public for help in solving the crimes.

Sheriff Greg Riat says someone entered a home just north of the intersection of Genn Road and Old Post Road, with his office called to scene on Monday.

Riat says someone forced entry into the home and stole Christmas presents and jewelry.

The residents of the home believe it happened sometime after 5:00 on the evening of December 20th and before 3:30 on the afternoon of December 21st.

Damage and losses are valued at more than $1,000.

While investigators were on the scene, the Sheriff's Office received a report of a similar crime, this one occurring at a residence north of the intersection at Cannonball Road and Saltzer Road.

The home had been ransacked, and presents and jewelry stolen.

The resident believes it happened sometime between 7:50 Monday morning and 4:55 that afternoon.

Losses are estimated at more than $1,000.

Deputies searched the areas of the burglaries, developing a vehicle of interest described as a white, regular cab pickup truck, possibly a GMC or Chevy, with a flat bed.

A vehicle of that description had been reported in the area of both burglaries.

Although there are similarities between the cases, authorities can't yet say for sure if they're connected, and are asking for the public's help in solving the crimes.

Anyone with information related to the burglaries should call 785-457-3353.
