(KLZA)-- The Falls City Council voted Monday night agreed to provide $6,600 to the Main Street Committee to be used for the purchase of Christmas decorations for Harlan Street and the downtown business district.

City Administrator Gary Jorn reported the Main Street Committee received A $2,500 donation from F & M Bank and had $2,300 in a Christmas Fund.  The Richardson County Visitors Bureau has also pledged $10,000 toward the cost of the decorations, estimated to cost about $30,000.

With the City providing $6,600, the Main Street Committee has pledged $6,600.

Eleanor Last who was on the Christmas Decoration Committee addressed the Council, noting how bad a shape current decorations are in.  She said we need to keep the community looking good.

Jorn said that by ordering new lights in January a substantial savings would be realized.
