(KLZA)-- The Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer School Board heard the plans for moving into the new addition at the Humboldt site and plans for an open house when they met this week.
Superintendent Sherri Edumundson says the staff and students are excited about the move. An open house will be held in early January once the school takes total possession of the new addition. The weight room will not be part of the open house since the equipment is not scheduled to arrive until January 11th.
During this weeks Board meeting the possible need for additional custodial help was reviewed. No additional help will be hired now. With some classes moving out of the current building into the new addition, it is hoped that will offset the need for more help. After the current school year is completed, the issue will be revisited.
In other business the HTRS Board discussed possible changes in the salary schedule for classified staff including para-educators, cooks, custodians and secretarial staff based on experience and education. No action was taken.
The Board did approve the audit report, which contained one minor finding that has already been dealt with. Changes were approved to the lunch policy concerning the amount of money on the student lunch account.
The fees for the fitness center that will be open to the public and is part of the new addition at the school in Humboldt was set at $50 annually for a single person and $100 for a family.
The Board decided to delay the Superintendent evaluation and contract renewal until after her second evaluation.
A recommendation from ESU #4 that HTRS hire their own Speech / Language Pathologist was also reviewed. The costs will be studied. The ESU #4 advisory feels the school district has enough students on speech IET’s, the school would be better off to hire their own person instead of contracting for the service.
Approval was also given to sell, by sealed bids, one of the HTRS school districts handicap accessible vans.
