(KAIR)--No injuries reported following a Tuesday morning Atchison house fire.
Fire Department Captain Ron Pennington says crews were called to the scene by resident Jena Suther, who reported a fire in the front room of the two story home.
Pennington says firefighters, arriving shortly before 8:45, looked through the front window, and saw that the structure itself was not on fire. Instead, it was apparent that pieces of furniture in that room of the 1016 North 10th Street residence were.
Firefighters entered the home, and using extinguishers, suppressed what they could, and then moved the furniture outside to finish the job.
The home, spared from the fire, did incur smoke damage.
Pennington says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
