(KNZA)--A Horton man charged in connection an April home invasion on the Kickapoo Reservation has pleaded “ no contest” to charges, canceling a jury trial that had been set in the case.
Brown County Attorney Kevin Hill says 22-year-old Andrew Darnell entered the plea Tuesday in Brown County District Court to charges of robbery, aggravated burglary, and aggravated assault. In exchange for the plea, Hill says a lesser charge of criminal threat and an additional count of aggravated assault were dismissed.
Sentencing was set for March 28th.
Hill says the offenses will carry a presumptive prison sentence of between 31 months and 136 months in prison for the robbery conviction; between 31 months and 136 months for the aggravated burglary conviction and between 11 months and 13 months in prison for the aggravated assault conviction.
Darnell was among three men charged in connection with the April 24th home invasion.
Jury trials are set for the other two defendants in the case. 35-year-old Westley Banks is scheduled to go on trial beginning January 5th on seven counts and a jury trial for 32-year-old Tyler “ Tiger” Banks is scheduled to begin March 1st on five counts.
Darnell remains in the Brown County Jail after his bond was revoked following his conviction.
