(KNZA)--Netawaka Rural Fire District #6 has been awarded a $500 grant from the Wal-mart Distribution Center in Ottawa, Kansas.
David Tyler with the Wal-mart Distribution Center recently presented a check to members of the Netawaka Fire Department after touring their fire station.
According to a news release, the grant funds will be used to assist with the acquisition of rescue equipment to better serve the community when responding to highway accidents as well as other emergencies.
The Wal-Mart distribution center in Ottawa is a regional transportation hub with numerous truckloads traveling US 75 highway on any given day, with several miles of highway within the Netawaka Rural Fire District.
