(KNZA)--A wanted fugitive from Sabetha is now jailed in Nemaha County, facing numerous charges following a fight with police.
Sabetha Police Chief Robert Wahwasuck told MSC News his office received a call Friday that 23-year-old Harvey Webster, Junior, had broken into a Sabetha apartment, and was threatening the residents.
An officer arrived on the scene, and that's when a fight took place. Wahwasuck says Webster allegedly attacked the officer, trying to remove his taser from his belt as both men struggled on the ground.
A Highway Patrol Trooper arrived on the scene and saw the two men tussling. The Trooper used his taser to subdue Webster, who was then taken into custody. He, and the officer, were both treated for minor injuries incurred during the altercation.
Webster now faces numerous charges, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, battery on a law enforcement officer, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct.
Along with those charges, he was arrested on two Nemaha County Warrants, including one for distributing meth.
Wahwasuck says an investigation by the Sabetha Police Department earlier this year led to the warrant being issued, but before an arrest could be made Webster fled the area and was in hiding until his arrest Friday.
