(MSC News)--Slow and safe travel is encouraged across the region, as lingering winter weather could mean slick roadways for travelers.
The concerns remain, as the Kansas Department of Transportation continues to report that the wintery weather has impacted travel routes.
KDOT road crews began their work last evening, treating roadways where needed in an effort to keep icing to a minimum, with the effort continuing as long as the winter weather remains.
KDOT says to plan ahead before you get behind the wheel, and anytime travel is necessary in winter weather, it's encouraged that an emergency kit be kept in the vehicle in case it's needed.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in place for the local Kansas Counties of Brown, Jackson, Marshall, Nemaha and Pottawatomie, while a Freezing Rain Advisory is in effect for the local Kansas Counties of Atchison, and Doniphan along with the local area Missouri Counties of Holt and Andrew.
