Colleen Carey

(KAIR)--An Atchison woman, accused of posting a threat on social media to Benedictine College students, has waived her right to a preliminary hearing.

18-year-old Colleen Carey made her first appearance with her attorney in Atchison County District Court Monday afternoon, where the judge accepted the motion to waive the hearing, and set an arraignment hearing for January 11th.

She is facing a charge of aggravated criminal threat.

Carey was arrested last week, after she allegedly posted a threat on the social media site Yik Yak stating RIP to all Benedictine students. I am so sorry for what I am about to do. The threat caused the college to increase security, and go on a lockdown for several hours.
