Mound City Aldermen Discuss Lagoons and Water Tower
11/18/2015

(KLZA)-- The Mound City Board of Alderman approved a $20,000 quote from Farmers Custom Pumping to agitate sewer lagoon cell #1. The company evaluated the sludge in the lagoon and reported that dredging the lagoon is needed but would be expensive.

Aldermen decided to go with the agitating of Cell #1, which is not a permanent fix. Waste Water Superintendent Kelly Graves stated something needs to be done before winter when more issues would likely arise.

Cunningham Inc. contacted Water Superintendent Randy Crowley informing him there would be a delay in painting the Water Tower.  They requested a start date of March 10, 2016 and offered to pay a penalty of $250 per calendar day for every day beyond that date the project is not started.  Crowley was told to contact the company and ask for a completion date rather than a starting date and then report back to Mayor Chris Krueger.

The company also has offered as further compensation for the unintended delay to do a full interior cleaning and inspection of the tank at no charge.

The Council did approve waiving the building permit fee for the Mound City School addition, except for the Building Inspector fee.

It was also noted that a public retirement reception for City Clerk Patsy Smith will be held December 3rd and that the City employees would be allowed the day after Thanksgiving off as well as the holiday.
