Bomb Scare Evacuates Atchison High School
11/13/2015

(KAIR)--Students and staff at Atchison High School were quickly evacuated from the building just after 8:00 Friday morning after a written bomb threat was found.

Parents received a text alert from the school district informing them of the threat, and that students had been moved out of the building for their safety.

Superintendent Dr. Susan Myers says the evacuation took place immediately after the note, indicating there may be a bomb inside the school, was found off campus, saying “we went to our normal protocol. We relocated our children according to our plan and the police were there to help us search the building.”

Police Chief Mike Wilson says a thorough search was conducted by both law enforcement and school staff, with no bomb found.

Students returned to class shortly after 9:15 after the all clear was given.
