Grant Funds Tech Growth At Falls City CMH
11/11/2015

(KLZA)--A major technology upgrade is coming to Community Medical Center in Falls City, following the receipt of a $400,000 grant.

The funds are made possible through the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust's Rural Healthcare Program.

According to a press release from the Trust, the money is earmarked for the purchase of a new, up-to-date, CT scanner which will allow for faster scans that produce high-quality images. That will allow medical staff to quickly determine the health status, and treatment methods, for patients.

Community Medical Center CEO Ryan Larsen says receiving the grant is a big win for the community, and will allow CMH to perform tests that patients could previously receive only by driving long distances to health care facilities elsewhere.

Community Medical Center is one of 37 regional grant recipients to receive a portion of the $14 million allocated by the Helmsley Charitable Trust to purchase CT scanners at Critical Access Hospitals in seven states.

The funding follows a survey of such hospitals in the seven state region where capital equipment upgrades, especially CT scanners, was identified as a top need.
