(KNZA)--Three area projects are among eight in Kansas to receive funding through USDA Rural Development to build and improve water and wastewater infrastructure.
Doniphan County Rural Water District #6 has been awarded a $588,000 loan and a $973,000 grant. The funds will be used to develop a new rural water district that serves 240 users, which will require 112 miles of water distribution lines and construction of a 150,000 gallon steel standpipe.
The city of Ozawkie will receive a $3.8 million loan. The funds will be used to rehabilitate about 41,000-feet of sewer lines and repair 38 manholes.
And the Jackson County community of Delia has been awarded a $17,000 grant for a water project. The funds will be used to pay an engineering firm to conduct the preliminary engineering report, and the Kansas Rural Water Association will be hired to complete the environment report on the city’s water system.
