Community Involvement Key For New Police Chief
11/10/2015

(KMZA)--Expanding community involvement.

That's a key goal for the newly hired Seneca Chief of Police, as he begins his role in that position.

Jordan Weaver, who replaces nine-year Police Chief Brent Schulte, says he doesn't have any immediate major changes in store for the department aside from increasing officer visibility. “Changes? Not too much at this point,” Weaver tells MSC News. “The only thing I can think of is I want my officers out in the community more, like if there's an event going, like a baseball game or something, I would like my officers to get out of the car, go in and interact with the members of the community, one on one. Just be approachable.”

Weaver says he looks to further such community outreach through other methods as well. “Would like to continue the newspaper articles that I started this summer. We are going to continue doing the car show like we have done the past couple years. If there's any events that come up in the community and we can have a positive part of the event, we will try and be a part of it.”

Weaver, an officer with the Seneca Police Department since June 2010, was hired as Police Chief by the Seneca City Council November 4th.

He had been serving as interim Police Chief since late September following Schulte's resignation.
