(KNZA)--A St. Joseph mother has pleaded guilty to a felony charge in the August death of her infant son.
KQ2-TV reports 28-year-old Sasha Lizar pleaded guilty Monday in a Buchanan County courtroom to a charge of endangering the welfare of a child as part of a plea deal.
As part of the deal, prosecutors agreed not to file any additional charges against her because of prior convictions.
Lizar faces a maximum sentence of seven years in prison when she’s sentenced December 14th.
According to court documents, Lizar allegedly used methamphetamine while caring for her son and left him with others who also ingested meth.
Also charged in the case is 59-year-old Roy Miller, Jr. He faces a November 19th trial on a felony for abuse or neglect of a child resulting in death.
Miller is accused of violently shaking the child, leading to brain trauma that resulted in his death.
The child died August 27th at a Kansas City hospital, the day of his first birthday.
