(KNZA)--A team of 11 young adults, representing the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps, are coming to Holton.
During their stay, the group of 18-24-year-olds will work on behalf of Homestead Affordable Housing to help rehabilitate homes, build wheelchair ramps, build and install raised bed gardens, and complete a variety of service assignments to benefit Jackson County.
The team is set to arrive this coming weekend and begin the service work during the first week of November.
The assistance of the team comes through a competitive grant award which Homestead Affordable Housing earlier applied for.
Tom Bishop, the President and CEO of HAH, says in a press release that the team will “make a significant impact on the lives of those in need” in the community.
He urges anyone in need of wheelchair ramps, or other emergency repairs, along with experienced carpenters to help design ramps and order materials, to contact his office at (785) 364-0110.
