10/23/2015

(MSC News)--Full details are released regarding a brief Pottawatomie County manhunt Thursday morning that landed a man wanted on felony charges in Oklahoma in custody.

Pottawatomie County Sheriff Greg Riat says it happened in rural Wamego when a deputy attempted to serve a warrant on 43-year-old James Wilson, of Louisville, around 10:00.

Wilson, wanted on an outstanding Oklahoma warrant for an illegal drug violation  fled on foot.

That led to a search, including the use of a Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter.

Other agencies, including Wamego Police and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, assisted in establishing a perimeter in the area of Elm Slough Road, as the search progressed.

About an hour later, Wilson was apprehended and booked into the Pottawatomie County Jail, where he remains in custody on a $7,500 bond.
