(KNZA)--Two Horton residents took a trip to the hospital following a two vehicle wreck in Shawnee County Thursday afternoon.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports it happened on U.S. Highway 75, at northwest 25th Street, when a northbound car, driven by 76-year-old Larry Mathias, was traveling in the right lane of the highway. The Patrol says he made an improper lane change, causing his Buick Lesabre to collide with a northbound car traveling in the left lane.

Matthias, and his 75-year-old passenger, Etta Mae Matthias, were both transported to Topeka's Stormont Vail for treatment of possible injuries.

The driver of the second car, identified as 35-year-old Topeka resident Skyler Fitzgerald, was not hurt.

The Patrol says everyone was buckled up when the wreck happened around 4:00.
