(KMZA)--A new Police Chief for the City of Seneca should be named by early next month.
That word came when the Seneca City Council met Wednesday evening.
At that time, it was revealed that applicants for the position are still being interviewed.
The employee committee will wrap-up the process in the near future, and is expected to make their recommendation to fill the position at the Council's November 4th meeting.
A total of seven applications were received for the position by the October 9th deadline.
The employee committee then narrowed down that field of candidates further, selecting up to four for interviews which have been ongoing.
The Chief of Police vacancy was created by the resignation of Brent Schulte who ended his nine-years in that position September 25th to take a job as an investigator with the Kansas Lottery.
