(KLZA)-- October marks the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness month, an annual campaign that aims to increase knowledge and awareness of the disease. Please join Humboldt – Table Rock -Steinauer National Honor Society and contribute to the fight against Breast Cancer.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer, a part of the World Health Organization, estimated that in 2012, around 1.7 million new cases of breast cancer in women occurred worldwide. The American Cancer Society reports that the breast cancer death rate is down 34% since 1990. As of Jan. 1, 2014, there were more than 3.1 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S.
The World Cancer Research Fund International reports that there are more than 6 million breast cancer survivors worldwide, giving many survivors a reason to celebrate this month.
Let's participate in the continuing battle against Breast Cancer! All HTRS students have been given a jar for their class rooms, students can then bring their donations until November 1st. The class who raises the most money will be thrown a pizza party on the following Friday November 6th. The entire student body will be participating in the fundraiser.
The contributions will all be donated to the Richardson County Cancer Fund. 100% of proceeds provides help and inspires hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education, and support services. Join the fight and give hope for Breast Cancer.
If you have any questions you can contact Jena Fink, Will Drake, or Mrs. Mezger at the HTRS School.
