Evaluation Ordered For Teen Accused Of Sex Crime

 (KAIR)--A Huron teen, accused of a sex crime against a minor, has been ordered to undergo a competency evaluation.

The 14-year-old teen appeared in Atchison County District Court Thursday, where a judge ordered the Atchison Guidance Center to conduct the evaluation. 

A new court date was set for October 29th.

The teen is facing three felony charges including aggravated criminal sodomy, rape, and aggravated indecent liberties with a child. A motion filed by Assistant County Attorney Pat Henderson to try him as an adult, remains pending.

The crime allegedly took place multiple times between September 10th-24th, and was reported to the Atchison County Sheriff's Department by a family member of the female victim. 

The teen remains in custody at the juvenile detention center.
