(KMZA)--A head-on collision on a Pottawatomie County Road one mile south of St. Mary’s Thursday morning left two injured.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says for an unknown reason a FedEx van was driving left of center on Maple Hill Road. A southbound pickup truck went left of center to avoid the vehicle. However, at the same time the FedEx van overcorrected and re-entered the northbound lane where the two vehicles collided head-on shortly before 9:00.
The FedEx driver, 52-year-old Topeka resident Jeffrey Freeman, was initially taken to the St. Mary’s hospital and then was later flown to a Topeka hospital with disabling injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck, 62-year-old Wamego resident John Rookstool, was taken to the St. Mary’s hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
