Falls City Awards Insurance Bid
09/23/2015

(KLZA)-- Falls City Council members Monday night voted unanimously to award the bids for the City property, liability and workers compensation insurance for the next three years to Miller-Monroe of Falls City at a cost of $246,648.  The  bid was $7,170 higher than the bid submitted by Lichty-Tubach-Sikora.

The City has been with Miller-Monroe for the past six years.  Their bid does include an additional $6-million liability policy for the Board of Public Works at no additional charge not included with the Lichty-Tubach-Sikora bid.

In other action, the Council approved allowing Brian Lemerond to build a metal building to be used as a garage at 2300 Fulton Street without there being a primary residence on the lots. Lemerond intends to use the shed to construct the walls for a new home he will build on the site in 2016.

A 10-year non-exclusive franchise agreement with Time Warner Cable Midwest was approved.  Time Warner will pay the City a fee equal to 5-percent of gross sales which in recent years has averaged around $50,000.

Following a public hearing, an animal permit for a potbelly pig at 7222 Morton Street was approved, as was a request for a special designated liquor license at the Itha Krumme Arboretum for an October 17th wine tasting event.
