Two Area Communities Awarded KDOT Funding

(MSC News)--The Kansas Department of Transportation has committed nearly $13 million to projects that will improve intersections and road deficiencies in several cities across the state, including locally, Atchison and Marysville.

Nine cities have been awarded a total of $6.6 million through KDOT’s geometric improvement program for fiscal year 2018, with Atchison to receive $1 million.  In addition, twenty-two projects will receive $6.1 million in funding through the City Connecting Links or KLINK program for fiscal year 2017, with Marysville to receive $300,000. 

Atchison will use the funding for an improvement project on U.S. 73 from U Street to Green Street.  The total estimated cost of the project is nearly $1.7 million.

Marysville will use the funding for a resurfacing project on U.S. 36 from 4th Street to 17th Street.  The total estimated cost of the project is nearly $600,000.
