Ozawkie Man Charged In Violent Altercation
09/21/2015

(KAIR)--An Ozawkie man is facing multiple charges after an alleged domestic violence incident over the weekend.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Department Captain Kirk Vernon says the department was notified Sunday by the staff of Topeka's Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center, that a patient was being treated for injuries believed to be the result of domestic violence. Deputies gathered information at the hospital, and executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 9000 block of Valley View Drive in Ozawkie, and 39-year-old Brian Hunter was taken into custody soon after.

Hunter was booked into the Jefferson County Jail early Monday morning on charges including
aggravated battery, criminal restraint, criminal threat, aggravated endangerment of a child, criminal damage to property, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

No information is being provided regarding the identity of the victim, who has since been released from the hospital.

Editor's Note: An earlier version of this story stated Hunter was facing a charge of attempted murder. Authorities have revised that inital charge and the story is changed to reflect that.
