Atchison Co Budget Contains Mill Levy Increase
09/16/2015

(KAIR)--The Atchison County Commission has approved for publication a proposed 2016 budget that contains a 1.2 property tax levy increase.

Commission Chair Bill Pohl cited several reason as to why the levy will increase-- including an extra pay period, two percent raise for county employees, 10 to 15 percent increase in health insurance costs and added courtroom security.

Pohl says the increase will translate to a property tax of about $75 more a year on a $100,000 home.

The Commission will consider adoption of the budget following a public hearing at their September 29th meeting.
