(KLZA)-- The Humboldt-Table Rock – Steinauer School Board conducted hearings on the proposed budget and levy Monday evening. One patron asked a few questions during the hearings.
The levy for the HTRS school district patrons will decrease nearly 4.3-cents this year of 93.5-cents per $100 of assessed valuation. Superintendent Sherry Edumundson explained the levy was higher last year to collect money for the new building addition at Humboldt. She also noted the property that makes up the HTRS District lies in parts of four counties. The valuation of the land is now $813-million, a nearly 14-percent increase from last year. The tax asking for the new budgets will be approximately $7.6-million.
Edmundson, who is serving her first year as HTRS Superintendent pointed out that while working on the budget she noticed the dramatic loss in state aid to the HTRS District. For the 2008-09 school year HTRS received $1.5-million in State Aid. For the 2015-16 year State Aid will be only $9,000.
In other business the HTRS Board approved the purchase of two vehicles. A Ford Fusion for $18,400 from Hullman’s Ford and a Chevy Traverse from Meyer Earp in Auburn, which will replace a van totaled in a wreck last spring during the State Track Meet in Omaha.
